Chapter 10

“Hello.”

“Hi, may I speak to Ms. Hemphill.”

“This is she. Who am I speaking with?”

“This is Brian Scott. I approached you at church about my daughter joining the praise and worship dance team.”

“How may I help you Mr. Scott?”

“Yes I wanted to know if I could talk to you about my daughter.”

“Yes, but Mr. Scott you have only to sign her up. Don’t worry I will use every child that will participate.”

“I know, but I wanted to discuss a few things with you. I apologize for intruding on your time, but I wouldn’t ask if it was not important. As not to inconvenience you more than I already have you tell me when and where we can meet.”

“How about tonight, I get off at five o’clock and I could meet you at O Charley’s on South Tryon. Do you know where that is?”

“Yes I do. I will meet you there.”

I don’t know what I was thinking about just meeting some strange man I don’t even know. What make matters worse is I am nervous and don’t know what to wear. I better hurry and get dress before I am late. I have changed my clothes three times. I have only seen Mr. Scott one time and that’s when he approached me in church. I don’t know if he is married or not. I was wondering why he approached me and not his wife. My questions should be answered later. Sitting here thinking about what I will wear. I don’t want to dress sexy because I don’t even know this man. I don’t want to dress business casual. I want him to feel comfortable. I should go with some jeans and my cream sweater. This will gives me a chance to wear my new cream boots I got from Rack Room Shoes.

I only stay ten or fifteen minutes from O Charley’s so it won’t take long to get there. All I have to worry about is that Wal-Mart traffic. I will leave so I can get there early.

I walked into the restaurant, and notice that Mr. Scott was already there.

“Hello Mr. Scott. How are you?”

“Fine and how are you Ms. Hemphill?”

“I’m fine as usual, but you can call me Sharon.”

“Okay Ms. Fine as usual, but only if you call me Brian.”

“Well Brian where is your daughter? What is her name again?”

“Her name is Felicia, and I dropped her off at her grandmothers.”

“Okay, what did you want to talk to me about?”

“Straight to the point, I like that. Let’s order first so we won’t be interrupted that much while we are talking.”

As he called over the waiter and ordered our food it gave me time to check him out. He is a good looking brother. I love his smile and his white teeth. I like how he take control and the tone of the evening. You can tell he is a strong man, and that he is used to handling his business. There seems to be no beating around the bush for him.
